West Pakistani refugees to be given land ownership rights in J&K

RS Pura (J&K), May 01 (ANI): The Jammu and Kashmir administration is considering giving land ownership rights to refugees from West Pakistan. After the abrogation of Article 370, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has taken steps to give land ownership to the refugees. Abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A also resulted in them gaining citizenship rights in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Labha Ram Gandhi, President of the West Pakistani Refugee action committee, the government looks forward to solving their problem. “You all lived as second-class citizens for a long time. Whether it was an assembly, Panchayat, or local body election, you all were not allowed to vote. you were not allowed to do a state government job. You have suffered the pain of discrimination for a long time. The land has been allotted to you but you do not have ownership. On the instruction of the Indian govt, this work also be done,” said Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha. Speaking to ANI, Labha Ram Gandhi, President of the West Pakistani Refugee action committee said, “See, it was a decisive decision from the J&K administration. LG Manoj Sinha came between us. He invited all the govt departments here. The only motive was to address and solve the issues of West Pakistani refugees.”
