Atiq’s shooters were fans of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, wanted to become “big criminals”: UP Police

Lucknow (UP), April 18 (ANI):In another shocking disclosure by the UP Police in the Atiq Ahmad murder case, the three assailants who gunned down gangster-turned politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad were inspired by notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. UP Police on April 18, told ANI that the shooters considered Lawrence Bishnoi their ‘role model’ and wanted to earn fame like him. The killers of Atiq Ahmad have been identified as Sunny Singh, Lovelesh Tiwari, and Arun Maurya. The killer trio, posing as media persons, assassinated Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed on the night of April 15. Both the gangsters collapsed on the spot after they were shot at nearly point-blank range. Thereafter, all three shooters were presented before the magistrate on April 16 and later sent to 14-day judicial custody. The shootout of the gangsters came two days after his son Asad Ahmed and his aide Ghulam were killed in an encounter. Atiq Ahmed was accused in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case and also in the Umesh Pal murder case, which happened in Feb this year.
