Anantnag (J&K), Sept 07 (ANI): Department of Horticulture organised an awareness camp for orchardists in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on September 06. The main purpose of the camp was to inform the growers or orchardists about the different departmental schemes particularly Modified High Density Plantation Scheme. It was attended by more than 100 orchardists and a good number of Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) members. During the event, Director of Horticulture elaborated about the incentives available under the various centrally and UT sponsored schemes of the department like MIDH, PMDP, SMAM, PMKSY, CAPEX, NHB etc. They urged the orchardists to come forward and get the benefits under these schemes. Authorisation letters of different components were also distributed to the beneficiaries. Later, Director Horticulture and other senior officers of the department along with orchardists visited private fruit plant nurseries established with the support of the Department. They gave brief training to orchardists how to grow high density apples. The growers or orchardists lauded the effort taken by the horticulture department. These types of awareness cum training programs will help the growers to grow high quality fruits.
