He made announcements on the steps that government has taken to cambat Covid-19. He said, “Earlier today, Canadian ministers have announced that Canada has adviced Canadians to curtail non-essential international travel, and the cruise season is suspended until July. We are bringing additional screening measures at airports. We are also streamlining overseas arrivals to be better positioned for screening.” He further added, “Later today I will have a call with premiers and indigenous leaders to discuss the latest developments and coordinate our efforts including the over-billion dollar Covid-19 response fund which provides money to the provinces and territories to support preparation and mitigation.” Trudeau made announcement on providing financial help to Canadians. He said, “I know that you’re worried about your health, family, job, paying rent etc. I know that you’re concerned about uncertainty in the global economy. The steps being taken to keep you safe have an economic impact. But it’s also true that we are in an enviable position, of having significant fiscal firepower available to support you. This is an edition to the measure that we have already taken. “No one should have to worry about paying rent, buying grocery or additional child care because of Covid-19” he added. Trudeau is in self-isolation after his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau has been tested positive for the coronavirus.
