Prayagraj (UP), Apr 16 (ANI): Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj on April 15. Moments ahead of their killing, both were speaking to the media while being taken for a medical. Shootout of the gangsters came two days after his son Asad Ahmed and Ghulam were killed in an encounter. Reacting to Asad’s encounter Umesh Pal’s wife Jaya Pal thanked Yogi Govt for taking action against mafias. She also demanded that Atiq Ahmed should meet the same fate as her husband Umesh Pal did. The deceased Mafia-turned-politician Atiq had more than 100 FIRs registered against him in UP. Meanwhile, his brother Ashraf Ahmed had more than 57 FIRs filed lodged against him in the state. CM Yogi has constituted a 3-member judicial inquiry and ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter. Uttar Pradesh Government also imposed Section 144 to maintain the law and order in the state.
